The eighth annual BIGGEST little Theatre New Works Festival at Brüka Theatre is a showcase for original theatre pieces featuring traditional and nontraditional performances and stage readings created by local and regional performing artists. Some of these pieces have gone on to perform in National Fringe Festivals. This small festival features nine staged readings and two performances over five days in our downtown Sub-Brüka space. Readings range from monologues to full-length productions.  Groups receive a portion of the ticket sales.

Some of these pieces have gone on to perform in National Fringe Festivals. This small festival features up to 4 performances a day over 4 days in our downtown Sub-Brüka space. Reno, NV.  Brüka Theatre presents The God Of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza and adapted by Christopher Hampton.  Tony DeGeiso directs this wickedly funny play that asks what happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behavior of their children? A calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly? Or a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime?   This Tony award winning 90-minute dark comedy enjoyed a successful run on Broadway in 2009 – 2010 and enjoys its Nevada debut at Brüka Theatre.  Described as a comedy of manners without manners, The God Of Carnage features actors Bradford Ka’ai’ai, Kristin Moffitt, Gary Cremeans and Mary Bennett behaving badly in bad circumstances. Strong language.  Suggested for mature audiences only.  (Ages 15 and over).

The God of Carnage opens Friday, May 4, 2012 followed by a post show opening night champagne reception. The God of Carnage plays for 13 total performances: MAY 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 23*, 24, 25, 26 2012 @ 8 PM.   Matinee MAY 20  @ 2  PM (May 23rd is a Wednesday night show) There is a Sunday matinee on May 20  @ 2 PM followed by a talk back with the company. The doors open a half an hour before curtain time.

Reservations are available through our box office at (775) 323-3221 or on our website at www.bruka.org. Box-office hours are 1 - 5 pm Wednesday through Friday and 12 - 4 pm Saturday. Individual tickets are $18 for general $16 for students, seniors and military and all tickets are $20 at the door. Reno, NV.  Brüka Theatre presents The Wild Party, a jazz tinged musical based on the boozy, violent, narrative poem about a 1920s party written in 1928 by Joseph Moncure March.  The Wild Party, with parallels to our world today – our politics, our social issues and our culture is a rowdy, decadent musical that tells the story of Queenie and Burrs, a vaudeville couple whose relationship is marked by vicious behavior and recklessness, mirroring the times in which they live. They decide to throw a party to end all parties, inviting an assortment of people living on the edge for one wild evening in their Manhattan apartment. As the party plays out, relationships are forged and torn apart, and it ultimately becomes the greatest night they'll ever regret. The Wild Party is a musical morality tale about the consequences of actions in an age of unreason.  Sexual situations & language.  Suggested for mature audiences only.  (Ages 17 and over).

Reno, NV.  Brüka Theatre presents In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play.   This comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity is written by award winning playwright Sarah Ruhl and Directed by Karen Chandler.  Nominated for three Tony awards, the play is set in the 1880s at the dawn of the age of electricity and based on the bizarre historical fact that doctors used vibrators to treat 'hysterical' women (and some men). Ruhl centers her play on "how we separate our bodily functions and labor and love" examining the nature of marriage and what it truly means to love someone.  In The Next Room, or the vibrator play premiered at Berkeley Rep in 2009.  No one under the age of 17 recommended.
