Reno, NV.  TAKE FIVE:  Making Art in Reno.  Reno’s seen an arts explosion in the 25 years since Brüka Theatre began creating innovative theater. To celebrate the Biggest Little City’s transformation to an internationally recognized arts destination, Brüka invited 36 amazing artists to show in just five entertaining minutes how they make their magic.  The talented artists who accepted Brüka’s TAKE FIVE challenge are passionate about their work.  You will be enlightened.  You will be entertained. Each night is a different group of artists.

From Blue Whale creator Matt Schultz to Burning Man founder Michael “Danger Ranger” Mikel, musician Cami Thompson’s “How to sing a song” to muralist Joe C. Rock’s “How to paint a wall” and found objects artist Philo Northrup’s “How to make an ArtCar” to Campo Restaurants Executive Chef David Holman’s “How to make art on a dinner plate”; poets, painters, actors, musicians, dancers and improv comics will share their secrets in two different and extraordinary evenings.

Don’t miss the premier arts event of 2018! Tickets are $25 for either Part I or Part II, or $40 for both evenings. Tickets available online (with a small service fee) at: www.brownpapertickets.com.

 Reno, NV.  Brüka Theatre proudly presents the ridiculous parody:  Buttcracker 8 – The BIGGEST little Buttcracker In The World – a hysterical, historical time travel adventure.  This Brüka romp, a parody of the Nutcracker is back by popular demand and taking a trip through the history of Reno, celebrating 150 years of the BIGGEST little city in the world! In this ridiculous parody based on the holiday favorite The Nutcracker, Brüka dances its pants off in an eclectic, hilarious and original performance experience laced with Brüka’s exciting performance style.  This new adventure has Clara and the gang time traveling into a bizarre bend on the history of Reno.  Directed by Mary Bennett with choreography by John Wade, La Ronda Etheridge and the ensemble. Opening November 24, 2017 and playing through December 23, 2017.

Buttcracker 8 – The BIGGEST little Buttcracker in the world opens with a post show opening night champagne reception and appetizers from the Wild River Grille. The show runs weekly with shows Wednesdays through Sundays. Evening shows begin at 8:00 pm and the two Sunday matinees for Buttcracker 8 on and December 10th & 17th begin at 2:00 PM.  The December 17th matinee is followed by a talkback with the company and audience.  The doors open a half an hour before curtain time. (Artist night is Wednesday December 2 – ALL TICKETS are $10.)  Suggested for ages 8 and up.  Not recommended for those with tight slippers.

Reno, NV.  Tom Stoppard’s The Real Inspector Hound opens the 25th anniversary season at Brüka Theatre on October 6, 2017. Feuding theatre critics Moon and Birdboot, the first a fusty philanderer and the second a pompous and vindictive second stringer, are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of Agatha Christie-like melodramas that follows, as mists rise about isolated Muldoon Manor, Moon and Birdboot become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman.
